What a great way to celebrate Australia Day!  On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to pass on congratulations to all who participated in the days activities.  The sail past was spectacular, and our 174th Australia Day Regatta well patronised.  It is warming to see the efforts people went to in dressing boats and crew, well done guys!

A special thanks to those officials who donated their time and efforts in running the day’s activities.  Thanks to Lawrie Eddy (our PRO), Ron ‘Doc’ Thomson, Bris Doyle and Peter Walsh.  As per usual, Club Captain Dick Bridge sweltered in the heat to provide his famous sausage sandwiches.  Other thanks should be made of our Club Staff who performed admirably during the day and John Ward from ‘Windsong IV’ our Club representative in the Lantern parade.

The sail past was proudly led by Maritime Rescue, and some 70 vessels took part.  It was a hard task judging prizes for the various boats; however, together with Lawrie and Peter we were able to pick the various winners. 1st place Best Dressed non Club Boat-‘Nice Touch’ Geoff Dove.  1st place Best Dressed Club Sailing Boat-‘Gypsy Woman’ Patrick Sykes, 1st place Best Dressed Club Motor Boat-‘Pacific Mood’ Peter Casey and 1st place Best Dressed Crew-‘Divine Intervention’ Graham Macpherson.

Well done to those place getters in the regatta (all results handicap only).  I was lucky enough to present 2nd and 3rd place holders with Australia Day Regatta medallions on the day, however the winners of each section will be formally presented 1st place medallions at Sydney Town Hall on 10th March 2010.
