The Broken Bay Inter-Club Challenge Series has become a great fixture on the racing calendar of the participating clubs, - Avalon Sailing Club, Gosfor Sailing Club, Hawkesbury River Sailing Club and Royal Motor Yacht Club.

It consists of 4 races, starting with the 3-Island Race, from RMYC, round Lion Island, Dangar Island and Scotland Island, before finishing at RMYC. It has been contested in every imaginable weather condition, from flat calm to 50 knot wind, from stinking hot to pelting rain, and is always a real test of consistency.

Race 2 is the Gosford Race, a race around Brisbane Water

Race 3 is the Brooklyn Bash, from Palm Beach Pile, round Lion Island to a mark in the vincinity of Juno Point, back to a mark deep in Pittwater (soldier's Point, Taylor's Point etc), back round Lion Island to the finish at the Hawkesbury Ricer Sailing Club Clubhouse ("club barge") near Dangar Island.

Race 4 is from RMYC round a series of marks in Pittwater, finishing back at RMYC.

All competitors thoroughly enjoy these races and look forward to competing with a different set of boats and sailors. The get-togethers after the rce are also good, getting to know the other clubs and their members.

Next year, keep this race series in mind, and sign up. You will enjoy it!
