Oh, the perils of night-time navigation...

It could have been worse for a 50' visitor to Paddy's Channel. The lights can be hard to spot at 1 am.

Outstanding NS14 State titles held at Gosford Sailing Club

Sunbeam & Zhik 46th NS14 NSW State Titles
This was a fabulous weekend for everyone that attended; we had an exceptionally strong fleet of 72 boats. This resulted in some great, exciting and rewarding racing in one of the most open series in the last 10 years.

Winning Photo selected.   The selection Jury had a difficult choice this time, with several great photos. But in the end they picked 'Safe Arrival', because they felt it represented the spirit of our club wonderfully - a great adventure, sailing at its best, family spirit, camaraderie and joy of living, all crowned by the GSC burgee. Well done!

Final Day of Championship Racing

After a windless, miserable day of no racing on 2 January, the 46th Australian Sabot Championships had an exciting 3-race day to determine the winners. Gosford now has a pair of new national sailing champions, with Sophie McIntosh and Jordan Makin winning the junior division of the 46^th Australian Sabot Championships on Brisbane Water.

And the pair in Double Diamond are also celebrating a third placing in the senior division to teammate Vardon Robson in Thunderstruck. James Brewer from Southern NSW swept past leaders Victorian Oliver Kalpokas and Gosford’s Vardon Robson to win the Senior Division, thanks to two wins in the final day’s three races. The week-long competition involved 63 seniors and 36 juniors.

South Queensland dominated the parallel Sabot Week regatta, winning both the Senior and Junior Divisions.

UK-Halsey Rules Quiz

UK-Halsey is a sail maker, and they have developed an animated sailing rules Quiz to help make people aware of the racing rules (as well as their products). This quiz is offered as an experiment, to see how our members like it. It is not an endorsement of the company's product, and they are not a sponsor of our club.

It is a good approach to understanding the racing rules, and will hopefully enable our sailors to avoid any misunderstandings and safety issues in our racing activities.

We will keep this on our website for a while, and look for your comments before deciding to either keep it or remove it. Please send me an e-mail with your comments, - and whether or not you would like to see it continue.
